Editor Candice St. Jacques has worked hard to include a large variety of jewelry projects and informative articles. All celebrate the joy of creating finely crafted jewelry. Projects include wire wrapping, metal work, lapidary, metal clay, and polymer clay techniques. Instructions are detailed and include plenty of full-color photographs. They also include columns on the history of the Y-necklace (by yours truly), PMC safety, and pearls, plus a beautiful gallery section including silver clay and metal pieces.
Dedicated seed beaders are probably the only jewelry makers that I would exclude from enthusiastically enjoying this new magazine. In fact, though I know there are tons of bead magazines out there (including Bead & Buttons of course), Id have to say thats about the only criticism I have concerning Art Jewelry. Its obvious that the aim of this magazine is go beyond beading, which is great. However, if all jewelry making is art, I wouldnt mind seeing future articles that include beading. In fact, I wouldnt mind seeing future issues at all! Right now, I still give Art Jewelry a grade of A, and Ive got my fingers crossed that well be lucky enough to see this new publication grow and evolve.
