After every fashion trend is around for awhile, the next thing that comes to mind (especially for jewelry makers and artist who create many of these designs themselves) is when will the trend end? Will we consigned to drop our mini-chandeliers into our jewelry boxes only to collect dust? Or, did we luck out and discover this new style earlier enough to enjoy it for awhile?
I’ve been thinking about these questions myself. Luckily, an article in my local paper by Associated Press writer Erin Hanafy entitled “Swinging Chandelier Earrings Are the Big Draw This Holiday Season,” provided some interesting answers. The bad news is that while this style is still hot, it seems to have reached its peek. The good news – even great news if you love this design – is that according to big name jewelry designers and style-makers, chandelier-style earrings are no longer a trend but have moved onto the category of “classic designs.” So, if you do put these earrings back in your jewelry box, feel free to set them next to your pearl necklace or coveted antique “Y” necklace because they are here to stay.
