Think Pink Boutique

Wednesday October 10, 2007
As you probably know already, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. That means many of us are wearing our pink jewelry as a way to make everyone a little more aware, and maybe even ourselves more aware, about how breast cancer affects our lives. This is also a time every year that many companies donate money to research, and Luxe Jewels is one of those companies who have taken action this month with their Think Pink Boutique.

A percentage of proceeds from the boutique will go to Susan G. Komen For a Cure. They have both finished jewelry for sale as well as jewelry making kits, such as their “Get Creative for a Cure” which includes freshwater pearls, rose quarts, crystals, a silver ribbon charm, and pink ribbon. Ten dollars from each kit goes to Susan G. Komen For a Cure. Plus jewelry designers can enter their designs to win a $300 Luxe Jewels gift certificate.

I just saw a story about Yo-plait Pink campaign. For every lid that is mailed in, they will donate 10 cents to charity. But it costs 41 cents to mail in the lid, so in the end, the charity would be better off it you just mailed them the money. Too much “think pink” without thinking, IMO.

Why not save up a bunch of lids and mail them all at once? Or find a place that has a Yo-plait drop off container, my local college has one.
