Why Aren’t You in the Jewelry Gallery?

Thursday July 21, 2005
I had an email from a member the other day asking why her work has not been selected for The Artist Within gallery. She felt that I was ignoring her even though she had followed all the requirements of the Submissions Guidelines. Since she probably isn’t the only community member who has wondered about this, I thought her email was worth addressing publicly. First of all, let me say that (and this is included in the guidelines), I’m under no obligation to post work in the gallery. In fact, if I were to actually attempt to post every single item submitted, then basically, this entire site would be the gallery. Though I take pleasure in promoting the work of community members, the jewelry gallery takes a good bit of time to update each week. The purpose of this site is to provide everything you need to know about jewelry making, so I feel it is important to have a balance. I can’t just concentrate on one thing, especially when jewelry making covers so much. Also, there can be other reasons why I may pass up someone’s jewelry scans, and I recently posted “Some Advice About Posting Pictures” on the forum, which may be worth a read. Finally, let me say that by posting your jewelry pictures in the Show & Tell folder, you are still getting a great deal of exposure, even if you may or may not (for whatever reason) make it into the gallery.
