Katie Hacker has teamed up with Beadalon to develop some interesting new jewelry components she calls Katiedids. Right now, there are seven different configurations of these components ranging in shape from round to square and half-round. Each includes channeled areas, allowing you to insert beads or other materials into the grooves and thus design unique components that you can integrate into your own jewelry designs.
Katie sent me the 25mm 2-hole Round Katiedids component to experiment with, and I ended up creating a design I call "Sew Passionate Crystal Pendant," a pendant for anyone who is passionate about sewing or other needle-arts.
Though beads seem to most obvious items to put in these channels, you could add lots of other materials such as resin or clay. To find out more Katiedids, visit her web site.
