Halstead Bead, Inc. has announced the winner of its annual Jewelry Design Business Development Grant: designer Amy Fortunato of Cowboy's Sweetheart. As part of the grant, Amy will receive $6,000 in start-up cash and jewelry supplies to help expand her small jewelry business.
This grant is intended to encourage jewelry designers who specialize in bridge jewelry, which fills the gap between fine jewelry and costume jewelry. Amy Fortunato's work includes a mix of materials such as semi-precious stones, sterling silver, copper, freshwater pearls, leather, and hand-stitched beads. Though she studied art in the East, she finally found her calling to live and work in Colorado, and the landscape inspires much of her designs.
