Do You Social Network?

After posting about social networking and your jewelry business yesterday, I'm curious if you are actively attempting to use social networking as a way to promote yourself, and if so where?

If I don't include one you think is worth mentioning, feel free to add it in the comments.

For all I’m on LinkedIn, I don’t keep up with it like I do FB and Twitter…mainly FB. Too many of these things can suck all the time away from actually *doing* something!

I totally agree. There just isn’t time to be active on all of the social networks out there. So, like you, I’ve had to limit where I can spend my time.

I’ve read a few people lately saying that they think it’s a fad that will (they hope) go away soon. While I’m sure it will evolve like everything else on the internet, it’s not going away. It’s way too powerful a tool for business and for pleasure. For me, it’s just one more way –or actually a bunch of more ways!– that I can easily connect with my readers and buyers. However they want to receive my news, that’s the way I’ll give it to them.

Good point, Cyndi, I don’t see SNs going away, changing maybe, but that’s what happens on the net.

* My blog is new and has no followers so I end up harrassing friends and old classmates on FB.
* Time is a factor. Don’t have it to keep up with all of the SNs diligently AND to make jewelry.
* Throw in Etsy in the mix and you can spend 40 hours a weeks just on marketing.
* There is no way I’m Tweeting on top of all that, too.
*Currently redirecting efforts going local to build up interest.

Allison – So true! One thing about Twitter, though, is that you can use http://twitterfeed.com/ to feed your facebook page & your blog into it. So, you can totally automate it if you want.
