Yup, that is my beautiful foot modeling my Barefoot Sandals project. I have also seen these called "bottomless sandals," but whatever you call them, they are pretty cool. I used to sell these like crazy at a small boutique years ago that specialized in resort wear.
The woman who owned the shop (it is now closed, unfortunately) showed me a pair she had bought that were made of tiny seed beads and elastic. I was concerned that the design was not durable enough for something you'd actually wear on your foot and walk around in, so redesigned it to create the same affect, but I used chain and crystals instead.
Since then, I have known a number of jewelry makers who have made these for special events like weddings on the beach. The bride has some bling going on without having to worry about sand in her shoes. Summer parties by the pool are also a good opportunity to wear these.

I love barefoot sandals. I’ve made a few pairs, but I wish I had more places to wear them. I keep hoping to stumble across the perfect pair of simple heels that I could wear with them, that wouldn’t distract from the designs.
I know. How often do you go to a wedding on the beach or something similar?
Why does it have to be a beach — could be swimming pool — boat ride — at a High School dance girls shoes comes off what a pretty substitute
