Color expert, Margie Deeb, who you may know as the author of The Beader's Color Palette as well as other-related color and bead books, is also known for her annual color reports. Recently, she announced her newest addition, Fall/Winter 2009 Color Report for Bead & Jewelry Designers ($9.95). These reports are more than just a list of the new colors (which originate from the Pantone company) that are going to be popular for the next season.
Margie expands on the list to provide a practical way for beaders to use these colors in their jewelry designs. For example, she takes a color like Nomad, which is an unusual hue between gray and beige, and demonstrates how to mix this color with other colors. She does this a few different ways by showing a finished piece of jewelry that combines the main color and other colors; providing a combination color and proportion image as well as listing the colors and percentages of each used; creating a color in context image that shows how these colors in proportion can work together; and finally, including specific Delica and Swarovski crystal bead options so that you don't have to go hunting around for beads that match the colors.
Once she goes through all 10 seasonal colors, she includes a gallery section where you can view more jewelry designs that have been created around the colors. Find out more about what's inside and how to download this recent report at Margie Deeb's web site.
