October is breast cancer awareness month, and many jewelry makers are using their skills to help educate the public, and in some cases, raise funds for cancer research. It's amazing how making a simple pair of pink earrings can remind a friend to keep herself healthy.

If you're looking for a way to join in this month to show your support, you can lots of jewelry making products available to help you make some beautiful jewelry that has an important message attached to it.

For example, Glass artist D.D. Hess makes these tubular-shaped lampwork beads. They have tiny roses and pink ribbon embellishments on each side of the bead. I could imagine these simply strung with some pink rat tail or pink leather cord.

Gems2Behold.com also has these really pretty Venetian glass pink heart beads available, in different sizes, that would be perfect for pendants, bracelets, or earring sets. The beads have a subtle white stripe design across the pink surface.
