Blogging and Your Jewelry

Obviously, I'm a big fan of blogging. Technically, I've been blogging on this site for About.com even before the notion of blogging really existed because as an About.com Guide I have always been required to update my front page regularly. With blogging, however, came extra easy to use software that makes it faster to do this. As a result, instead of doing it about once a week like I did years ago, I can update a few times a week, normally at least three posts a week. Along with blogging here, I've blogged at other sites over the years and have also used a personal blog to help promote my About.com site and other writing and designing work that I do.

While blogging seems to be old hat now compared to all the social networking going on, the blogosphere is alive and well and a great place to promote yourself and your jewelry. I've written an article called "Promoting Your Jewelry Business via Blogs" that goes into more detail about doing just that.

Just the other day I found another good article (through Twitter) about promoting with blogs over at Handmade News. For the most part, other than I don't think posting five times a week is a mandatory requirement, I think the author, Jamie Sabot, has some excellent advice.

So do you blog now about your jewelry or have you thought about it? If you do blog, have you found that it does help promote your jewelry work? If you don't, what has been holding you back?

I agree that blogging does help promote my jewelry & bead business, but the heart of it is sharing ideas and providing a quality resource for information for my customers so that they continue to read it.

I feel that getting involved with blogging (2005) was one of the smartest moves I ever made online :-)
