Bamboo Beads

I have been loving some new bamboo beads I picked up recently from Rings & Things. I got two bags, one with about 100 round 10mm beads with similar patterns printed on them and another bag of 100 with an assortment of bamboo beads, square, round, oval, big, small, and all different types of prints.

I've already used them in one necklace, my Hip Hemp, Bamboo Beads and Copper Heart Necklace, and I have a number of other jewelry designs floating around in my head.

In fact, I have some teenage nephews and a niece coming down for summer vacation, and I thought these might be a good way to lure...errr..I mean encourage them to make some jewelry with me. I'm going to bring some hemp, wire, and some tools and see how it goes. Besides the fact that these are so cool looking, bamboo beads are very light-weight, even though some of the beads in the assorted package were pretty large. Plus, they can be used to create unisex jewelry, so maybe the guys will not find it too boring. I am competing with video games, you know!

Wood is so much fun to work with, and it’s so lightweight that you can really make big pieces without overwhelming your neck or wrist. Hope you guys have fun :-)
