Summer Jewelry = Pearls and Shells

Friday July 3, 2009

Are you wearing some of the new scoop neck and V-neck shirts that seem so popular this summer? If so, then this is the perfect necklace because it deserves lots of neck room to show off: Keshi Pearl and Shell Pendant Necklace.

I picked up this honker of a shell pendant at a jewelry show years ago and have been saving it for the perfect pairing. When I saw these gorgeous cream-colored Keshi pearls at Artbeads.com (part of their limited edition pearl collection), I knew I had found the perfect match. In fact, Artbeads.com even has a number of similar shell pendants that would work perfectly with this necklace design as well as Swarovski crystal beads, which I used as accents throughout the necklace strap.

You know, you can’t go wrong with the keishi pearls! They add a lot to a piece of jewelry and I think this necklace is perfect for summer months. Nice!!

Great necklace! I love the drama of this piece! It was very cool to click on the close up picture on the front page of this article and WOW, see the entire piece. Dramatic!! By the way, I LOVE the materials page. There is just something so cool about seeing packages of beads in their own little world and then seeing the piece they came together to make, like Bead Team work! :) Hope you are having a great holiday weekend!!

Dear Tammy:
I had a lifetime of learning to catch up on when I first came across your teachings concerning jewelry here online, and I have to say you continue to teach me even now, years later! This beautiful necklace, with these stunning cream keishi peals and fab focal pendant have a balance in both color and in space, which is neat! I also see a purity in the design which is extremely appealing in the summertime–who needs a ton of fussy stuff in the heat? I really LOVE what you did with this COOL :) necklace! It’s great!
Thanks for everything, always, jean

Thank you guys so much for the compliments. Yup, with these pearls you could string them on a rubber band and it would look great!

Jean, you are so sweet!

There is something so intriguing, so organic, so minimalist yet striking about keishi pearls. You’ve captured their essence in this lovely design.

Great work as usual, Ms. Powley!

Cheers,
Margot

Beautiful summer piece! I remember seeing strand after strand of these in China in all different colors. Great way to add variety to a design without a ton of beads.

Such a versatile and beautiful piece. Sure feels like summer–wish I could have a beach vacation to go with it!!! It would be the only piece of jewelry I’d need to take along, because it would work with everything from a t-shirt and shorts to a dress for dinner. Thanks for sharing it AND the tutorial!
