With Mardi Gras time here, there is no better reason (or excuse if you will) to dig into your beads and make all kinds of beaded jewelry designs. In fact, you can really get into the celebratory mood with your own kind of cocktail, a beaded cocktail that is! Basically, the idea is that you mix up various types of beads and then string them up to make bracelets or as in one of my projects which features this fun technique, a Beaded Cocktail Necklace Strap.
You can create your bead cocktail mixture from scratch, or if you are lazy like I am sometimes (okay not just sometimes), you can create a mixture over time. Whenever you finish a project and have a few beads left, don't put them away. Yes, I know that seems weird, but wait. Instead of putting them back, toss them in a little zip lock bag or plastic bead tube. Continue to do this, stash away leftover beads after finishing projects, and eventually, you'll have a bead mix ready to go.
