New Jewelry Media for a New Year?

Wednesday December 31, 2008
As we look ahead to 2009, I know many jewelry designers are thinking of expanding on their jewelry techniques, and one way to do this is to explore and experiment with materials they may have not used before or have had very little experience using. I know for me, I am hoping to work more with metal and fiber, maybe even finding ways to incorporate them together into designs. I'm also interested in working more with resin. What about you? Take the poll, and feel free to leave a comment or two, especially if there's a medium I did not include for consideration in the poll.

Next year, definitely want to get better at wire, clay, glass, and resin. Maybe I should focus on one every three months!

That is a good idea, sort of rethink your goals quarterly instead of yearly.

I plan on incorporating more resin into my art clay silver designs. Silver frame pendants with art & resin centers to start.

I’d like to spend more time playing with fused glass projects. I really am a glutton for things that sparkle so dichroic glass is a favorite of mine. Happy New Year from Karen Zaorski.

Luckily I have a spare room to use. My family calls it “The Bermuda Triangle.” I reorganize after several projects or when I can’t find my way out of the room, whichever comes first.
I am just starting to study metal fabrication. I think it will allow for a lot more creativity in my designs.
