Jewelry Making Around the Web

Thursday August 21, 2008
Here is another update for you on jewelry making news from around the web. Pictured left is some very cool bezel wire now available from Metal Clay Findings. It comes in a variety of thicknesses, and they even offer an excellent how-to tutorial as well.

Metalchasers.com is going through some changes. According to a recent email I received, this popular social networking site for jewelry makers who especially love working with metal is going to soon become JewelryGeeks. The name change is due to a perception by some that this site is only for metal workers, when in fact, it was originally meant for all jewelry makers.

Those living in the Palo Alto area of California will be sad to hear that the brick and mortar component of Beadshop.com is closing its doors. However, all of us are glad to hear that this will not affect the wonderful web shop they have been running for about a decade now. If you live in the area, stop by for some great deals and say good-bye. The shop has a good-bye party planned for August 27th, from 5 to 7pm.

Have you been by the Fire Mountain site lately? I noticed they have a cool feature there now called Ask the Experts. There are past questions and answers posted including a featured question of the day. Then near the end of the page there's an option for sending in your own jewelry making question. Love this idea!

Jewelry Art magazine has simplified its submission process, so if you have been thinking about sending in a story idea, check out their blog post about their new, improved procedure for this.

Thanks for the neat idea Tammy! I bought something similar to this at a bead show I attended last year, but I never did anything with it. Now I have to go find it (under mounds of beading stuff!) and give it a try. I looked at the tutorial you linked to and it is very good!
