Fuse Your Metal Jewelry

Friday March 21, 2008
Fine silver has started to be pretty popular lately. Some of that could be connected to the metal clay techniques that more jewelry makers are trying out these days. It could also be due to the fact that you don't have the tarnish issues you have with sterling silver.

Whatever the reason, if you have been curious about fine silver, then you will want to take a look at a new book out called Silver Wire Fusing by Liz Jones.

I always heard that you could fused fine silver, but after reading her book, I was amazed at how simple it seems. Or, at least, she makes it look pretty simple.

She does make it look very easy in this book… too easy! In fact I wish she had a trouble-shooting section because I’m not finding it helpful enough on its own, which is why I found this during my internet search.

I agree with the previous comment. I am wasting lots of silver when attempting to fuse finer gauges (18 to 22 gauge). I eventually am able to successfully complete the projects, but not without grief. I guess it just takes lots of practice.
