Looking for a Real Jewelry Job?

Tuesday February 12, 2008
Most hobby-related jewelry makers who eventually decide to turn pro, first consider selling their own jewelry products. However, there is also the possibility of working for someone else in the jewelry trade. This may be a good way to learn the ropes from someone else or just gain more general jewelry knowledge. Years ago, I took a part-time holiday job selling jewery at a fine jewelry store, and it was a wonderful experience as far as learning more about jewelry as well as learning more about selling jewelry.

If you are considering a serious career in the jewelry industry, one place to look is the job listings over at Jewelry and Watch Jobs. This is a place where industry folks post jobs, and they have a fairly wide assortment of positions open all the time there such as bench jeweler, sales, quality assurance, watch repair, and account managers. It may not be as fun as stringing beads or bending and hammering wire, but it may be a way to open other jewelry related doors while you make a living as well.
