Future Jewelry Product Reviews
First, there's a book from Crystal McDougald entitled Beading from Nature: Creating Jewelry with Stones from the Earth ($19.95 US/$23.95 CAN). It's published by Sixth and Spring Books, who I have to admit I didn't know existed until I got this book, but they seem to have a fair amount of crafts books published. There didn't seem to be much about the author from my brief flip through of the book, but according to the publisher's web site, she has published and edited a number of crafts books and has taught jewelry making at New York Craft Student's League.
Sharilyn Miller has a new jewelry DVD out called Bohemian Bangles Bracelet Worshop ($39.95). This puppy is four hours long, so it's going to take me awhile to absorb, obviously. From Sharilyn's previous DVDs, I seriously doubt I'll be disappointed. I mean, four hours! Wow! She teaches a lot of live workshops and travels all over the world teaching, so I think her idea to work this into DVDs is pretty good since not everyone can travel to this sort of thing.
Then I've got two books from Interweave Press. Silver Wire Fusing by Liz Jones ($22.95 US/$27.95 CAN) is about fusing jewelry, which in this case means metal (not fused glass). The author is a workshop teacher and buyer for Fusion Beads located in Seattle. This book looks really interesting. Hopefully, I can keep away from my husband who has already spotted it and is a metal guy.
Designing Jewelry with Glass Beads ($22.95 US/$27.95 CAN) is written by Stephanie Sersich who is a lampwork artists and jewelry designer. From first glance, this book looks like it doesn't actually teach lampwork bead making but focuses on bead stringing with lampwork beads.
