Craft Stores Step Up the Jewelry
I had to go for the big grand opening (of course), and it reminded me many, many years ago when I first started seriously making jewelry. Back then, I lived in Orlando, and there was a Ben Franklin craft store near my house. I went there almost daily to fill orders for my new jewelry making business. Sure, I was paying retail, but it was very convenient and I was very green to the whole jewelry making slash jewelry business thing.
So, while your local bead store is always on option, many folks still don't have one close by (mine is 30 minutes away). However, now that craft stores such as Michael's have jumped on the jewelry making band wagon, they can be a pretty handy resource, especially for the inexperience jewelry maker.
So, if you haven't made a trip to your local craft store in a while, it's definitely worth checking into. You may be surprised at the jewelry making supplies you actually find there.

Hi,
Yes, I’m glad that I have a Michael’s store and a Hobby Lobby store about 5-6 miles from me, I’d walk there but there is so much traffic from my house to over into the next township, that it’s not funny–with people talking on their cell phones while driving, and trying to put their makeup on at stoplights, etc.–it’s not safe to walk. Even though
I watch where I’m going, I can’t say the same for drivers. I don’t drive and the public transportation hasn’t figured out that there is a need for people to go from my township over to another township. So I use eBay a lot and other places on the internet that mail out. I’ve bought more totes to store my beads in than I have really cared to get–but I won’t leave my beads out.

I’ve even called into the public transportation co. and suggested that they start a route up going from our township to the other–just across town.
I’ve called numerous times, but no new routes have popped up in the area that I’ve called about.

I also am very lucky to have a Michales close by, I can bike there the there is no traffic due to the route goes throu a nature preserve and park. The store it self is in a refurbished cement quarry turned shopping center. Very cool place, Starbuck’s, Borders and Michael’s….. what more do you need.
