Bead Power Update

Wednesday September 12, 2007
I blogged here awhile back about a non-profit group which helps to resettle refugees. One member of this group is from our Jewelry Making Forum and mentioned how she was helping the women's group learn to bead as a way to build their self-esteem and possibly provide them with the means to make a little pocket money at some point in the future.

As you can imagine, the response from many of our other forum members and jewelry community in general was overwhelming, and the group ended up getting loads of supplies donated to them.

In order to help us all keep up with the women's progress, there is now a blog that shows them making jewelry, pictures of finished jewelry, and an on-going list of supplies still needed. Not surprising, it seems to be that findings are the main items on their wish list.

This really shows how the jewelry making bug is contagious no matter who you are, where you are from, or what language you speak.

Lillian, I also learned most of what I know from the About.com jewelry Website. I was proud of what I learned, but now I’m much more proud of how I’m sharing my skills!
