Jewelry Ideas for Soft Touch

Saturday June 16, 2007
Soft Touch beading wire is a little different than most of the beading wire I've used before. It's a lot smaller, .010 inches, and it is very soft. According to the Soft Flex company who manufactures Soft Touch, you can knot with it, which isn't that easy to do with thicker beading wire (at least not for me).

I have some Soft Touch beading wire to play with, so I went over to the Soft Flex site to see if they had any design ideas and found this necklace (pictured) made with loads of pearls and crystals: Bridal Bouquet Necklace. This sort of helped jump start my brain. Pearls?? Hmm??? I'll keep you posted on what I end up creating.

Soft touch is not necessarily a thinner wire. It comes in all the same sizes as Soft Flex. It’s made from the same material as Soft Flex and comes in assorted diameters: .010, .014, .019, and .024. It’s woven different so it has a softer texture and a larger price tag. The .010 is a 7 strand cord and it
s not availabable in the soft Touch. It’s like thread but the others are more supple versions of the regular Soft Flex. Beadalon also makes the .010 diameter but it comes in a 19 strand version.

I hear from lots of people that they love it.

Yes, Soft Touch does make the .010! I have some in my bead supplies. Its the only wire that I have used that will go through seed beads twice! Excellent for bead weaving projects!
