Jewelry Making Forum Reminders

Wednesday June 6, 2007
As part of this Jewelry Making web site housed here at About.com, this site also includes a really helpful Jewelry Making Forum. On this forum, membership is free (you just have to register) and members of the forum get together, talk about jewelry making, selling their jewelry, and just about anything jewelry related. We have a "Show and Tell" folder where members show off the fabulous jewelry that they make. It's also a great place to post questions because there are so many people over there with loads of experience.

Because our forum over here is pretty popular, we get a lot of new members on a daily basis. Therefore, I think it is helpful some times to put out a kind of gentle reminder about what members can and can't do over there. First, new members (and even old ones who want a refresher) should read "Jewelry Making Forum Netiquette." I put this together with the help of other members to explain how to make sure things run smoothly over there.

Also, I think a lot of members sign up and sign in without taking a few moments to read the short FAQ on the forum sign in page:

F.A.Q.
Q. Do I have to register to use the forums?
A. You can enter as a guest and read posts, but you must register before you can post or answer a post that's already there. Registering is quick, simple, and free. Please join us.

Q. Are there any types of posts that are prohibited here?
A. We will delete any spam or commercial posts. Please do not post to sell something or involve anyone in a money-making proposition. Flames or rude / insensitive remarks will be removed. Users who are disruptive may be gagged at the Guide's discretion.

Q. May I promote my product or Web site here?
A. As with most places on the Internet, you may make your URL part of your "signature" by typing it under your name at the end of your posts, but please do not place commercial posts on the forum. They will be considered spam and be deleted.
Our forum is really a wonderful and helpful community, and as part of that community members work together to make it a fun and safe place to get together and talk jewelry.

Someone on a forum asked where to get polish for rock tumbling, I gave them the site where I buy mine, is this considered promoting a siter to make profit?
