Sketching Jewelry Designs

Thursday July 20, 2006
After watching Project Runway last night and noticing that out of 14 designers only one did not sketch out designs, it got me wondering: Do you sketch your jewelry designs?

You betcha! I can’t draw worth beans, but I almost always doodle the piece a bit before subjecting pricey materials to the wire cutters and pliers :-)

I think different people have different reasons, but for me, I do it so that I don’t forget a design idea when I may not have time actually try it out. That way I can go back and try it later. Also, sometimes I find it helpful to figure out how I’m going to construct a piece of jewelry, sort of like a blue print for me to follow.
