Jewelry & Art Show Time

Saturday October 22, 2005
In my local paper today, the front page of the feature section has a huge list of arts and craft shows coming up around the local area. Granted, most of these shows are already scheduled and filled with vendors (though some may still be open), but this is great information to save for next year. If your paper also runs a similar article about local craft shows, save it and start checking on the shows that look interesting to you. I personally used to use this section and saved it in my “Art Show” folder. Any time I found some information like this or received an art show application or flyer, I filed it away for when I was ready to start deciding on shows to enter.

It’s also a good idea to visit these shows before you decided to sell at them. See what type of crowds they have, the way it is organized (or not organized), and what type of vendors sell what type of craft merchandise at them. How many jewelry vendors do you see?

This is the perfect opportunity to get some reconnaissance done in your search for future art shows. So, don’t forget your local paper, and if you don’t have a handy section where they include all the shows, look through the local and feature sections for art show ads. That’s another way to collect information. For more tips and suggestions, take a look at “Locating Art Shows.”
