A member on our forum has asked a really good question: Are websites for jewelry businesses worth the cost? What are your thoughts? Seems like lots of people are making money on the web these days, and lots aren't. I've written before about making money on line through places like Ebay, but there are a lot of factors when it comes to making the cost and time involved worth it or not.

I am beginning my website as I type this, to sell my jewelry designs online. I believe the biggest concern when determining whether it is a success is developing a plan to drive business to your website. I hope to have more insight over the next few months.
In my personal experience, websites can be very powerful if they are marketed correctly. With that said, if you hire somebody to build you a website for you, be sure to inquire about how traffic will be driven to your website (search engines? affiliate links? etc…). You can have the best looking website and most beautiful jewelry out there, but if nobody can get to it, then it’s almost worthless. My advice – focus on getting help with SEO, linkbuilding, and keywords.
I have helped a friend create a new Online Jewelry Business. I am a stay at home mom and really know nothing about marketing. I really want her to succeed and have signed up for every Free Classified I can find online.
I need suggestions. I can’t spend “my” money to advertise for her but would love to give her some productive advice.
Please help!
